Chequers played an important part in One Housing’s recent Volunteer Days at one of their properties in Camden.
Our Electrical & Building Supervisor Rand was on hand to deliver materials to the site, while assisting and instructing volunteers who gave up their time to redecorate and regenerate the property, inside and out.
We helped the volunteers who spruced up the environment, planting flowers, repainting the walls and ceilings, and creating murals to add personal touches to the properties.
This is one of a number of similar projects we have been involved in over the past year, supporting One Housing as they conduct Volunteer Days across their housing portfolio.
This weekend we took part in the second annual Croydon PrideFest in support of the LGBTQ community.
Chequers members of staff manned a stall at the event, decked out in Pride colours and running competitions and giving out prizes.
We were also selling Lady Garden hoodies to raise money for the Gynaecological Cancer Fund, raising £120 on the day.
We were delighted to join hundreds of other people enjoying the music, food and drink in The Queen’s Gardens.
We’d also like to thank staff members from our client One Housing for helping us on the day.
We’re already looking forward to PrideFest 2018!

Congratulations are in order as our June Employee of the Month has been awarded to two members of staff!
Marcelo Puruncajas is a cleaning operative in our commercial department and Chris Whitley is a handyman who also works for our joint-venture company Renovo in the Electrical and Building department.
Always a reliable member of the team, Chris has recently stepped in to cover the Handyperson role at some of One Housing’s new Season Schemes.
Season is the Senior Living arm of One Housing, committed to providing high quality, affordable homes for residents to enjoy an independent life in, as part of the community.
Marcelo is a valuable asset to Chequers. Not only has he been named Employee of the Month for the second time, he’s also won a WOW Award after being nominated by our client Family Mosaic, for his excellent work on their schemes. Marcelo continues to go above and beyond what is asked of him, taking pride in his work, which has not gone unnoticed by Family Mosaic staff and residents.
The WOW Awards are the only independent awards process for great customer service, based purely on customer compliments.
